# MalaysiaInformation: Police destroy 32 Chinese men and women at World Cup gambling center
On July 2, illegal gambling continued to be active as the 2026 US-Canada-Mexico World Cup entered the knockout stage.Malaysian police raided a store office in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, in the early hours of July 1, destroying an illegal gambling operation center suspected of operating online gambling, arresting 32 Chinese men and women at the scene, and seizing a large number of involved electronic devices.
Kuala Lumpur's chief of police, Datuk Fadhil, said that at 2:40 a.m. on the same day, the Cherai Criminal Investigation Team successfully targeted and dismantled the gambling pit based on the law enforcement operation code-named โ€œIllegal Gambling Operation 11โ€ (Op Dadu Khas 11).
A total of 32 Chinese suspects, including 29 men and 3 women, aged between 29 and 40, were arrested in the police operation. At the same time, 28 computers and a batch of electronic devices suspected to be used for online gambling, such as mobile phones and modems, were seized at the scene.
Preliminary investigation shows that the criminal group rented the above office as an online gambling operation center and operated the World Cup gambling business through the website "6288.com".The arrested person is mainly responsible for managing the gambler's account, handling the transaction of funds, and promoting the online gambling platform. At present, all suspects have been approved by the court to extend their detention for 4 days, until July 4 to assist in the investigation.
Police are invoking sections 4 (1) (c) and 4 (1) (e) of the Public Gambling Act 1953 and section 6 (1) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 to investigate.
The Kuala Lumpur Police stressed that the crackdown on illegal gambling will continue to be intensified during the World Cup, focusing on gambling groups, illegal gambling intermediaries (Bookie) and illegal personnel involved in online and offline gambling activities to strictly curb illegal gambling crimes and maintain public order.
