Thailand tightened border controls and seized restricted supplies destined for Myanmar's Miaowaddy Electric Fraud Park

Since July 1, 2025, Mae Sok, Thailand, has comprehensively strengthened border freight control, and implemented unpacking inspection of freight vehicles bound for the border mountainous areas and the Moai River crossing, focusing on inspection of controlled materials such as diesel fuel, generators, network cables and communication equipment destined for Myanmar's Myawaddy region.During the operation, the police seized 3 trucks suspected of illegally transporting materials, and 2 Thai drivers were brought back for investigation. All the vehicles and materials involved were seized, and the case will be handed over to the judicial authorities according to law.Police said they will continue to strengthen border law enforcement and crack down on illegal activities that provide material support for the electric fraud park.

According to the Thai police, since July 1, 2025, the Mae Sok area has comprehensively strengthened border control and implemented unpacking inspection on all freight vehicles heading for the border mountainous areas and the Moai River crossing, focusing on inspecting controlled materials such as diesel fuel, generators, network cables, and communication base station accessories destined for Myanmar's Miaowaddy region, in order to cut off the supply channels of materials to the power fraud park.
Law enforcement officers stopped 3 light freight pickup trucks during the operation. After inspection, it was found that the vehicles did not have cross-border transportation permission, and the vehicles were loaded with diesel fuel, portable generators, and a large number of restricted materials such as network cables. The destination was suspected to be multiple electric fraud parks in Myawadi, Myanmar.
The police brought back two Thai drivers to the investigation on the spot and temporarily detained the driver's license, the vehicle involved and all the cargo in accordance with the law.The case is suspected of illegally transporting controlled materials across the border and assisting in the criminal activities of electric fraud. Subsequently, the case will be handed over to the Meso District Court for handling in accordance with the law.
